Début d'année à l'eau...

(English below)

Well, my stay in Chicout was too brief. And I'll be leaving Montreal tomorrow morning, so I won't have time to enjoy civilization much longer. At least I had tourtiere (du lac St-Jean, or Saguenay, whatever, for those reaching this through google, though it's the only kind of tourtiere there is, unless your from France, then it's a round pie plate...) for the Feast of Saint Sylvester. And, as always, we had a white Xmas back home (while Quebec City "enjoyed" its first brown Xmas on record). And I am now the happy proprietor of my father's old car (isn't that a nice present? I actually didn't want it so early but it was necessary for my girlfriend's new job in the boonies of Waterloo, yeah, there are such god-forsaken lands, I mean, aside from Hamilton). Which means there's still 6.5 hours of driving ahead of us tomorrow (doing the Parc in icing rain and slush, stuck behind two plows with no chance to pass ain't no fun). God, I miss the days when the Holidays lasted until Epiphany (January 6th for the uncultured heathens who may be reading this blog). I liked that cake (and its bean)...

Oh yeah, happy New Year everyone (stupid rain, I remember the days when if it wasn't -30C, it wasn't New Year, it was a nice short walk to breakfast at Le Montagnais's Le Manitou restaurant).
