J'avais déjà fait la remarque qu'à Waterloo, les tartes aux pommes sans cannelle, ça ne se trouvait pas nulle part, parce qu'apparemment, le sud-ouest de l'Ontario est si proche des États côté bouffe qu'ils n'ont jamais entendu parlé de tartes aux pommes sans épices.... On est allé au Loblaws (prononcé Lô-be-lâ) à Gatineau l'autre jour et devinez qu'est-ce qui composait les trois quarts du panier rempli de trucs à 50% pratiquement passés date parce qu'ils ne se vendent pas: les tartes aux pommes avec cannelle. Je ne suis donc pas le seul de ce côté-ci de la rivière Outaouais à "hagguir" la cannelle.

I've mentioned before that in Waterloo, it's impossible to find commercially made apple pie without cinnamon (it's not a big deal, as we can make our own apple pies anyway). Apparently, Southwestern Ontario is that culturally close to the US that unspiced apple pie is unheard of. Anyway, we just went to Loblaws in Gatineau the other day, and guess what occupied most of the 50% off tray of expiring products that don't sell: apple pies with cinnamon. Evidently, I'm not the only one on this side of the Ottawa river that hates cinnamon (and there's also at least one person in Switzerland who agrees with me on the abomination status of this particular spice).
