Les joies d'un frigidaire qui marche

(English below)

*****************

Well, it took a fucking week but we finally have a working fridge (thank you Whirlpool and your shitty quality control). I'm still mad at Brault & Martineau (they owe me 4 litres of spoiled milk, this year's tomato harvest, and tons of other compensations) and most of their personnel (except for one department manager who got them to exchange the frigde rather then send some guy a week later to try to fix it then discover there's another problem; not the store manager, who went AWOL, well on holiday the day he was supposed to call us back, the mofo). Now I can almost relax, there's only the car's problem that needs to be fixed urgently (i.e. Tuesday because Monday is Labour Day). I also start working on Tuesday though I have no clue what I'm supposed to do (there's supposed to snailmail me some stuff, in this technological age, they could email the important things first). I'll just go to my new office (it's empty except for some furniture and a phone...) with my laptop and do what I made my students do all summer: run simulations for the articles I've been working on. Publish or perish, as they say.

De retour, mais occupé

(English below)

******************

OK, I'm finally settled enough to have a local phone number (instead of one in Waterloo) and internet connection, so I can finally get my cell phone changed tomorrow, but I got a million things to do before that. But, for the love of whatever supreme entity you believe in (or lack of it), don't buy appliances at Brault & Martineau. They'll sell you crap and have you phone Whirlpool yourself when their crappy merchandise is dead on delivery. I'll have to make the fucking manager listen to reason tomorrow, but the motherfuckers are worse than The Brick. Don't shop there, ever. Just hope you're within the delivery range of Tanguay, they replace stuff you don't like right away without hassles. They're smart enough to be nice to their customers.

Adieu Waterloo...

(English below)

***************

OK, I won't have time to post a retrospective of my life in Waterloo because we're leaving tomorrow for good (well, I might be back for a few visits, I still have collaborative work with my supervisor to do). We're moving to the Quebec side of the Ottawa river (though I'll work on the Ontario side, like most people in Gatineau...), and I won't be able to post until Vidéotron sets up the precious internet connection in our new home. I gotta go finish packing, so good evening and good night.
